1. Brief description

Split is the mapping of a node, a conveyor belt with distribution.

2. Procedure and control description

As a line distributor, the split element divides an incoming product flow into two product flows according to the set division ratio. The element has one input and two outputs.

Conveying behavior:

The split is described as a conveying element. A conveying speed and a conveying length can be parameterized accordingly. Both parameters relate to the section before the product flow branches.

The input is the undivided product flow, the outputs provide the partial flows of the divided product flow. A failure behaviour (availability and MTTR) can also be parameterized for the branching.

In the default setting, the failure behavior is deactivated.

Backflow behavior:

The default property is “Switch on blocking”. If an output of the branch is blocked, the entire product flow is delivered to the free output regardless of the selected split properties.

Distribution properties:

The product flow can be divided according to the following criteria:

Permanent (in percent): The total amount of product dispensed is permanently divided between the two outputs according to the ratio entered.

Figure 1 shows an example of a Split.

Parameter

Description

Name

x

Name of the element

Moving Speed [m/s]

x

Conveying speed

Moving Length [m]

x

Length of the conveyor belt

Split setting

x

Splitting behavior in percentage

Output 1 [%]

x

Percentage of products at output 1

Own fault active

x

Activate/deactivate failure

Reliability [%]

x

Percentage of time the process operates or functions without any disruption.

Defects are randomly generated only during the work phase of the process on a unit/part.

MTTR - Distribution

x

Distribution function for MTTR

Mean [s]

x

The average time required to repair a machine at the time of failure.

MTTR is generally calculated by adding the TTR (time to repair) of all failures divided by the total number of failures.
