1. Brief description

The Machine element takes material (e.g. product) from the upstream process and transfers it to the downstream process after the set processing time (cycle time).

2. Procedure and control description

The machine element is a simple material flow module with one input and one output.

At the input, the machine receives material (e.g. product) from the upstream process and passes it on to the downstream process after the set processing time (cycle time).

A machine can be connected directly to other machines (simple machine, packer, depacker, etc.) or to conveyor elements.

The working speed (cycle time) and a failure behaviour (availability and MTTR) can be parameterized for the machine.

If the quantity of processed material (e.g. product) is to be recorded on the element, the batch analysis must be activated for the evaluation.

Figure 1 shows a simple machine in a linked system. At the input, it is connected to a depacker and the output is connected to an accumulating conveyor.

Parameter

Required

Description

Name

x

Name of the element

Speed [pcs/min]

x

Working speed of the machine

Own fault active

x

Activate/deactivate failure

Reliability [%]

x

Percentage of time the process operates or functions without any disruption.

Defects are randomly generated only during the work phase of the process on a unit/part.

MTTR - Distribution

x

Distribution function for MTTR

Mean [s]

x

The average time required to repair a machine at the time of failure.

MTTR is generally calculated by adding the TTR (time to repair) of all failures divided by the total number of failures.

Batch analysis active

x

Activate/deactivate batch result display. Default: activated
